Editorial Policy

EARTH Magazine, published by the American Geosciences Institute (AGI), is dedicated to providing accurate and verifiable information — as well as a diversity of factually informed opinions — reported by scientists, authors, journalists and editors. Our goal is to inform the public of events, discoveries and ongoing progress in geoscientific research.

In bringing the science behind the headlines to the public, we strive to report on science and issues related to science that are relevant for their content alone, not their possible political implications; to verify the accuracy of the information we publish and the credibility of the sources from which that information comes; to show tolerance of differing points of view or interpretations of the data without bias; to balance the public’s need for information against reporting that may cause anyone undue harm; and to refrain from any discrimination based on race, religion, age, gender, ethnicity, disability or sexual orientation.
