The Society of Exploration Geophysicists is a not-for-profit professional association with an annual turnover of $14 million, 81 staff, and 32,000 members from 140 countries. SEG fosters the expert and ethical practice of geophysics in the exploration and development of natural resources, in characterizing the near surface, and in mitigating earth hazards. Its headquarters are in Tulsa, OK, a second office has been established in China and further locations are being considered.
The SEG seeks an Executive Director who is a flexible leader and long-range thinker with a proven track record for effective management and business growth acumen. The Executive Director must identify and deliver solutions to key issues; help the Board deliver optimal value to the association; and nurture relationships with other societies. After several years of rapid growth, current challenges are: efficient expansion of global operations; optimize pricing of products; expand meetings and publications.
BA/BS degree with a minimum of seven years in a senior executive position. Preference given to candidates with previous experience in executive association management and international business. Must have excellent diplomacy and communication skills; strong financial and budgeting experience; and be willing to travel both domestically and internationally. A background in geosciences is not a necessity.
