The Department of Geology at the University of Otago, New Zealand (www.otago.ac.nz/geology), seeks applicants for the confirmation path [tenure track] position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in marine geology/sedimentology. The successful appointee must start by January 2010. Duties will include: helping with teaching of established courses at undergraduate level, helping to develop new courses where appropriate, supervising postgraduate students, teaching field classes (both land and ship-based), maintaining an active (desirably field-oriented) research programme, and helping with departmental administration. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. and must be able to take advantage of the dynamic geological environment of New Zealand for teaching and research. We seek a marine geologist able to work with both modern and ancient sediments, able to develop opportunities linked with RV Polaris, and whose skills, knowledge and experience will integrate with and strengthen existing teaching and research programmes in New Zealand's top PBRF-ranked earth sciences department.
